Ohio Oil & Gas Association Responds to Kasich Administration Tax-Increase Proposal

Ohio’s oil and gas producers have serious concerns and questions about the proposal put forth by the Kasich administration today, which, as numerous news outlets have been reporting for days, includes an increase of the severance tax. Crude oil and natural gas exploration in the state is still in its infancy and increasing the severance tax at this critical juncture will negatively impact the economic future of Ohio and its residents.

Ohio Oil & Gas Association Responds to ODNR Preliminary Report about Youngstown Area Seismic Activity

Today, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) confirmed, in a preliminary report, our belief that the recent seismic activity in the Youngstown area was associated with a previously unknown geologic factor, in this case, an un-mapped fault near a Class II injection well.

Ohio Petroleum Council Comments on Recent State Action Regarding Youngstown Injection Well

The Ohio Petroleum Council (OPC) has issued a statement on the recent suspension of Class II injection well operations in the vicinity of Youngstown. OPC notes that the issue is related to only one injection well and that Class II wells overall have worked well for decades.

OOGA Statement on Youngstown Injection Well Suspension

The Ohio Oil & Gas Association (OOGA) has released the following statement pertaining to the Ohio department of Natural Resources (ODNR) recent decision to temporarily suspend five injection wells within the Youngstown area. OOGA supports ODNR’s decision, calling it the correct course of action to ensure the safety of the area and its citizens.
