Advocacy In Action
OOGA works directly with the Ohio General Assembly, state regulatory agencies, the judiciary community and media with the sole mission of protecting Ohio's oil and gas industry.
State Lands Leasing
Over a decade ago, Ohio lawmakers approved drilling under state lands and created the Ohio Oil and Gas Land Management Commission to oversee the leasing of state lands. The panel was created in 2011 but remained inactive meeting only four times prior to 2023 and had taken no action. House Bill 507 required state agencies to lease land until the Commission developed rules and systems for a leasing program. The Commission passed rules for nominating and bidding earlier this year. The Commission is actively meeting to approve or disapprove nominated parcels for bidding.
